Jon Berg is an American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter from Saint Paul, Minnesota. His musical style is alternative, with blended elements of rock and pop. Walking the streets at night past Gilded Age homes of Crocus Hill, he felt a connection that helped inspire a record. Jon also drew upon other experiences and observations that affected him. There are wounds, and passion. The mystery of night fascinates him, and it too played a role in this window to his inner self. Lyric sheets were typically messy, as the words seemed to flow from the edge of consciousness. The album, Watching for Clues, and single, “Shuffle of Love”, with Brandon Commodore (of Sounds of Blackness and Mint Condition on drums), and Nick Salisbury on bass, were released February 2023. Having received strong audience response to a live performance, during Summer of 2023, with the help of Ryan Smith (Soul Asylum) on guitars and piano, Jenny Case (Flamin' Oh's) on bass, Peter Anderson (The Ocean Blue and Run Westy Run) on drums, and recording and mix engineer Rob Oesterlin, the band tracked a cover of The Smiths' “Bigmouth Strikes Again” at The Terrarium in Minneapolis. The song was released December 29, 2023.
